I AM BACKING GIRARDI ON THIS ONE, AS IF ANYONE EXPECTED ANYTHING ELSE. YOGI SAID HE WAS NEVER BOWLED OVER IN SPRING TRAINING AND NIETHER WAS GIRARDI. BOTH CATCHERS BY TRADE. ZIMMER LIKE EVERYONE ELSE DEEP DOWN IS A YANKEE HATER. PLAYED FOR BROOKLYN DODGERS AND WE KNOW HOW MANY TIMES YANKS BROKE THEIR HEARTS. WHAT WOULD HE SAY IF JOBA UNCORKS 100 MPH FASTBALL AT THE NEXT RAYS BATTER? IS IT STILL BASEBALL?

It's part of the game. I love that Yankee fans are in an uproar due to the fact Zimmer was a former pinstriper. For many years people beleived that Zimmer had a lot to do with the Yanks success in the late 90's. I know he wears different colors now, but remember when Pedro threw him to the ground? You guys were up in arms then. Let's not forget, if the shoe was on the other foot, Yankee fans wouldn't have a problem with what happened. Another thing, the guy maybe playing for a roster spot, so I applaude the effort. More players should go @ 100% all the time.
zimmer was joe torre dinner buddy , how many hits did he get ? yanks won cause they were best team.
He was the brains behind the operation. Torre is the man when it comes to dealing with players, and managing egos. We will see if Joe is successful in LA, where the talent doesn't match to what the Yankees have. Then we can determin how good a coach he was. But..... I think we should leave coaches out, since they don't step on the field.
Rk I gotta agree with Zim,nothing wrong with a young player trying to make an impression. My point is if the catcher didn't want to get bowled over why was he blocking the plate? Should the guy have given him self up like we do in softball?
I WANNA LIVE TO SEE ONE DAY WHEN YOU OR BRIAN EVER TAKE THE YANKEES SIDE ON ANY ISSUE. AND THROW POPS IN THERE TOO. NO OFFENSE.
don zimmer had such a great record when he was a mgr,of course he was the brains of the operation...by the time he was with the yankees ,he was nothing but a white-shoes wearing,2 dollars to win,early-bird special fat bastard...and of course,an original met
Well since your being a historian, Zim was a Dodger. He was with the Mets 1 year, 1962. I have taken the Yanks side on occasion when they were in the right. This is a matter of opinion here. So my opinion is for Girardi to stop complaining and get on with it. What does he and the fans think "How could they do this to a Yankee?" And a lesson for anyone who is a catcher....... Rule #1, don't block the plate unless your willing to get crushed!
